To Register—Currently Admitted UNC Students
Once you find your course(s), you will register from within your Ursa account. You will register using the CRN (course registration number) that you see listed for each course. The one exception is Independent Study Online Classes. For those courses please refer to the Independent Study directions provided below for non-admitted students.
To Register—If You are Not Currently Admitted to a UNC Academic Program
In the course search, you can search all online courses or search by "Instruction Method." If you are unsure which Instruction Method category below applies to your course, please contact the Office of Extended Studies with the full course number and CRN number for assistance:

Registration Steps By Category for Each Online Course Instruction Method
Online and Online ES Courses
Students not seeking a degree, certificate or licensure can register for these courses on a space-available basis (some Online ES courses are only available to those in the academic program).
Step 1: Submit the Student Information Form. You will receive an email response within 24 hours.
Step 2: There will be directions in the e-mail for finding your Bear Number and activating your Ursa account. You will use your Bear number to activate your Ursa account and register for your course. When you do register, you will need the Course Reference Number (CRN) that was displayed in the Online Course Search here.Professional Development Online and Independent Study Online
These courses are special offerings through the Office of Extended Studies. You will register by submitting one of the forms below or by phone with Extended Studies (see above). Directions are included with each form.
