About This Online Program
The Education Master of Arts in Teaching: Curriculum Studies Emphasis is a graduate degree for all teachers K-12. Designed for working teachers, this degree can be completed entirely online and you can start any academic term.
The Curriculum Studies MAT degree provides experienced educators with the knowledge, abilities, and critical evaluation skills needed to elevate their own professional development toward a vision of accomplished educational practice.
Candidates in this program analyze contemporary practices and theories relating to knowledge acquisition as a means of enhancing student learning and the curriculum development process within school systems. The Curriculum Studies program provides opportunities to develop an in-depth understanding of:
- Content-specific pedagogy
- The curriculum development process
- Teacher research
- Research-informed approaches to teaching and learning

Course of Study
The Education Master of Arts in Teaching: Curriculum Studies Emphasis is a 30 credit hour degree program. This degree can be completed fully online. All required courses and many elective courses are offered online.
Each student will be able to create a program time line that fits their needs. One full year of full-time classroom teaching experience or equivalent is required to graduate from this program.

- SRM 600 Introduction to Graduate Research (3)
Elective Courses (9 Credit Hours)
Elective credit courses must have the approval of the program advisor prior to completion. Many students elect to take content-specific courses in the field in which they instruct.

Comprehensive Component
In lieu of a master's thesis, Curriculum Studies MAT students prepare and submit a manuscript for publication in a journal of choice. In consultation with his/her program advisor, candidates review written projects from required courses in preparing the manuscript.
